Good questions and well explained replies. 🥰 At the end you mentioned about psychiatrist, psychologist and psycho therapists i would like to mention psychiatric social workers to that team. To address biopsychosocial issues you definitly need them🥰

Dhanya, your questions for this discussion were insightful and thought-provoking, highlighting both the human aspect and the practical considerations of mental health in India. It's clear you put a lot of thought into them.
As a counselor and psychotherapist with 20 years of experience, I can tell you that India is indeed in the early stages of developing comprehensive mental health care compared to other areas. This is partly due to societal factors that prioritize social status and downplay individual well-being, creating a stigma around seeking help.
It's important to remember that medication alone cannot address the complexity of mental health issues. While it can offer temporary relief or manage symptoms, it's crucial to combine it with adequate counselling and therapy for long-term healing and growth.
Building trust and rapport with clients is essential in any helping profession, especially in the sensitive field of mental health. In India, the expectation of professionals to receive honor from clients is counterintuitive and can hinder effective communication and support.
Both client and therapist are in vulnerable positions when exploring personal struggles, and acknowledging this vulnerability on both sides can actually foster a more secure and productive therapeutic relationship. The idea of professionals being "poolproof" is not only inaccurate but also detrimental to the therapeutic process.
Transparency and openness are indeed key to personal growth, just as oxygen and water are essential for physical health. Counselling can be a valuable tool for everyone, not just those facing diagnosed mental health conditions. To categorically state that someone who doesn't seek counselling is manipulative or fraudulent is not only insensitive but also inaccurate.
By focusing on respectful communication, empathy, and evidence-based approaches, we can work together to create a more supportive and accessible mental health landscape for all.
Great session ❤❤

Dr Zaileshila de Oru independent episode kittiyal nannayirunnu. The usual interview you did with Dr.Philip.
Thank you 🎉
Dear Dhanya Ma'am,
I am an avid follower of your interviews and consistently impressed by the depth of your questions, revealing a profound understanding of your subjects. However, I've observed a pattern in discussions on mental health where only psychologists are prominently featured.
I believe it is crucial to address why psychologists are predominantly chosen to explain biopsychosocial factors without the inclusion of psychiatric social workers. Many are unaware of the pivotal role clinical or psychiatric social workers play. Their expertise is essential in gaining clear insights into a client's psychosocial context.
It's evident that psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, psychiatric social workers, and clinical psychologists are interconnected in the mental health landscape. If the focus of this interview series is primarily on psychologists, it would be valuable to consider separate interviews for psychiatric social workers, psychiatrists and psychiatric nurses.
Thank you for your insightful interviews, and I hope to see a more comprehensive exploration of the diverse roles within the mental health profession.😢❤
Best episode ever we can have in YouTube
Desperately needed this….just love and respect more towards to Dhanya chechi….❤
