For me personally I think it's more about stimulation. Like a can sit on my phone for 2-3 hours but I'm perfectly fine leaving it in another room for a few hours. I think hobbies are starting to get neglected on favour of social media so maybe we need to dedicate more time to that
I think it’s addicting because most people are on their phones just to escape what’s going on in real life or stop their anxiety, so we basically just get pulled into our phones and stay there. At least that’s why I’m here :/

Well… I’m at home most of the time… usually by myself… usually figuring out how to make more income so I can afford everything that I own and or am going to own… so it’s less of an addiction and more like a necessary investment… lmk tho…
When I was in 7th grade, my sister in 6th, my mom first started a rule that we couldn't go on any computers until we finished our school and chores for the day, that also happened to be my first year in cross country and I was really healthy overall late in that year. Now that I'm much more independent, I spend way too much time on my phone and I'm struggling with sleep
My reason for sitting on my phone is because my teachers give me so much fucking homework that I am no longer motivated to work so I just give up I also don’t want to work because the teachers that give me the work are my two least favorite teachers and so when I see the math questions (I got 12 problems to do this week) and I just am not fucking motivated like if my science teacher gave me homework I would do it because they are my favorite teacher but like my other 2 teachers can go fuck them selves and my writing teacher is nice so only the reading and math give Me a shit load of work for noooooo fucking reason 😡🤬😡🤬
Social media and overall screen time brings huge amounts of dopamin into our brain with little to no effort. Then when we need to do a lot of effort into getting less dopamin we feel less accomplished and our brain overall prefers getting the dopamin fast and easily. The biggest idea is really the phone. Watching television is less problematic, but because tv series keeps the same subject and is slower then watching tiktok/shorts who give us a lot of information + entertains short attention spam which gives more dopamin, but makes you feel shitty at the end of the day. Its hard to let go of huge amounts of dopamin into completely no dopamin. That would make you go probably insane from boredom. I suggest to try and tone it down slowly, from starting to leave the phone to watch more tv to doing a fulfilling hobby while watching tv to doing the hobby by itself, or maybe with music or smth. Music can also bring dopamin and is more fun to use.
Maybe parents have to try and understand their child mor and the reason that the children are on their phone so much is so they can disconnect from reality so they don't have to deal with their problems because we were never taught how
The Internet and social media is so much of an escape for people, I think we need to make conventions and books more available. You could meet people and talk about things you like with people that agree, and the books would provide a stronger and more mentally healthy entertainment.
Because it is so accessible when you are bored or even when you are sad and want to be happy. It becomes a habit to click the apps whenever you are on ur phone for something else so i set a timer to make sure i stay on task
