I know someone who is taking all these except Agomelatine, the second one for 20 years now and the first one for 15 years. She believes her psychiatrists also robbed her of her chance of ever having biological children as she is 40yo and believes she will spend 10 years to safely taper off all of them.
I have comforted her, but feel really sad for her. What is the fastest safe taper of these drugs that can be done? And I assume there is no way of knowing, no tell-tale sign beforehand (or even along the way of tapering) of her chances of having a safe fast taper (including protracted withdrawal). My comforting her feels so meaningless…
Also, Amitriptyline and Perphenazine she is taking as a combo. As in, a pill which has both in it. I believe in her country Amitriptyline is not available separately. How does she taper this? And she has told me this combo pill has a coating around it; when she tapered this before by cutting it, her psychiatrist told her that she is destroying the drug. Does that make any sense? Does it ruin the taper and what's the alternative?
Lexapro ( severe PSSD like ED, anhedonia, apathy, memory loss, anxiety and severe depression ), Prozac ( mild ED as pssd but no cognitive issues), clonazepam ( severe brain fog, debilitating insomnia, memory issue)
Ativan, which seems to be one of the worst benzos for severe protracted withdrawal. Or another idea is a video comparing the different benzos and their potential side effects. Thank you
Pregablin was the new fashionable drug for anxiety around 10 years ago. After I experienced chronic symptoms from a 3 week Benzo taper I was put on it by a psychiatrist. I was in recovery. Trying to stay sober. Lots of addicts were put on this drug for the same reason. It’s insanely addictive!! Almost impossible to come off. I know people diagnosed with personality disorders just from the symptoms of withdrawal off this drug. It’s disgusting. There was a crisis in norther Ireland after it was handed out like sweeties. I heard that my prescribing psych doesn’t behave like that any more, but I had absolutely no acknowledgment or support from them. Which caused me more mental distress than the abuses in my life I went to them for help from. I campaigned for years and we held a gp training session here in plymouth on safer tapering but for years I couldn’t calm myself. I met people in the groups that suicided. Your videos are helping me in that I can see professionals take note and I’m slowly starting to calm down and get to a place of acceptance.
Be good to to a short on the standard drug prescribing behaviour from doctors after tapering too fast – where they pile drugs on and set people on terrible journeys – psychologically and physiologically – lots become obsessed with getting off the drugs. But so many new ones get added that it’s impossible so they are constantly trapped
There is a great amount of talk about benzo and their harm and8n withdrawal, I would love to see more awareness about the harms of other psychotropic drugs. The withdrawal, adr, tolerance is very real with them too.
Thank you for acknowledging, speaking out and supporting the horrors and harms that many of us deal with. Please continue and spread this to your peers.
Can you make one on coming off caffeine? It seems to give me constant anxiety and rage, this is also years after short term Lexapro use that made me ragey and disinhibited.
I had the most horrific gabapentin wd. When I told my neurologist about the withdrawals, he was the one who used the word horrific. He went through it himself. I ended up in the mental hospital for four months after stopping gabapentin and I tapered, which doctors don't think you have to do. I know it's not really a psych med but the anxiety and depression was the worst I've ever experienced.
Please do a video on Effexor (venlafaxine hydrochloride extended release). I've been on this for over 20 years now at the highest dose for 4 years. I also take 2 mg of Abilify.

Venlafaxine / Effexor (said to be one of the worst regarding withdrawal – what is your views risk-wise on prescribing ADs with short half-lives?)
Please talk about amphehamines
Do you think they're worse than benzos?
Duloxetine
